What to expect?
Each class is very relaxed, will have a specific passage we are reading. It is recommended that you read the passage before the class. We will then be reading the passage again in class and then discuss the ideas and topics raised in the passage and what it means to you.
It is a great opportunity to learn as a group and understand different ideas that people may have when understanding the bible and writings.

We gather to explore Swedenborg's work, "True Christian Religion" via Zoom. True Christian Religion summaries New Church theology. All are welcome.
The last book to be published by Swedenborg, The True Christian Religion is his theological summa, and his treatment of the main tenets of theology: the Trinity, the Bible, the Ten Commandments, faith, charity, free will, repentance, baptism, and the Eucharist. The work seems to be addressed to a primarily Lutheran audience, for it was, in part, written as a refutation of the accusation of heresy levelled at Swedenborg’s writings by the Gothenburg Consistory in 1769. (At this time Sweden was a Lutheran country with strict censorship legislation, which was why Swedenborg published his works in Britain and Holland). Swedenborg wanted to use approved Lutheran authorities to demonstrate that his teaching was not only not heretical, but was in fact ‘True Christianity’. In The True Christian Religion, Swedenborg was not just presenting a summary of his theology, but a proposal to rethink and recast the traditional doctrine of Lutheranism and all Christian Churches. Divine Love and Wisdom is one of the more philosophical of Swedenborg’s theological works and has attracted famous readers such as William Blake and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Swedenborg looks at the Creator and Creation, the role of man and his relationship to both the Divine and the world around him—his fellow men and the animal, vegetable and mineral worlds. This edition includes a brief Preface from the translators and an Index. (Summary taken from - https://www.swedenborg.org.uk/product/divine-love-and-wisdom/)

Present reading is from Swedenborg's On the Divine Love. On the Divine Love is the first book in a pair scripted by Swedenborg. The companion that follows is On the Divine Wisdom. These books lead us to see how love works in our mind and life, and how God shares both love and wisdom with us to bring blessing to our lives. Participants read on their own ahead of time, but we read again in class, sharing our engagement and delight in what comes to light. All welcome to join
These two works, published here together, were drafts for material that would become Divine Love and Wisdom. Swedenborg addresses the philosophical question of what is man’s function and purpose, bringing in knowledge from his previous career as a scientist and student of anatomy. We gather to explore the Bible via Zoom. We are currently reading Daniel. All are welcome.
Dr Andy Dibb writes - I am planning to offer an online doctrinal study of the book of Daniel. This is something I did some years ago, and have been planning to edit it in retirement, hopefully for publication, so this will be an excellent opportunity to review the material. Daniel has twelve chapters, so I am envisioning a twelve-part series.
