Curious about the Bible, spirituality and what it means to live a more meaningful life with the Lord?
Come and explore with us.
Michael Church is a warm and friendly New Church community in South London. We gather to worship, explore the Bible and learn from the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, whose insights help us see the Bible in new ways and apply its teachings to everyday life.
You don’t need to know anything about Swedenborg before you visit. You simply need to be curious.
Planning your first visit
Our Sunday worship is simple, welcoming and relaxed. Children are welcome, and once a month our Family Service includes Sunday School followed by a shared meal.

See our Calendar, clicking above, this will show the upcoming services and online reading groups.
Most services are at Michael Church, but we aim to have a service at Colchester once a month, and 4 times a year in Oxfordshire.
This year at Michael Church & The New Church UK we are lucky enough to have a rotation of visiting ministers coming from overseas to serve us.
What to expect when you visit
You don’t need to know the service beforehand or understand anything about Swedenborg.
Arrive before 10:50am and someone will be there to welcome you.
Our Sunday service begins at 11:00am and lasts around 50 minutes.
You can dress comfortably. There is no dress code.
Children are welcome at every service. During the service, the pastor gives a short, interactive Bible message especially for children.
The main sermon then explores a passage from the Bible through the teachings of the New Church. We look for deeper spiritual meaning and practical ways to put those teachings into everyday life.
After the sermon, we spend some time together discussing what we have heard, asking questions and sharing insights.
You are welcome to take part as much or as little as you like.
Bring the family to Feast & Friendship

Feast & Friendship
Once a month, our Family Service brings the whole community together for worship, Sunday School, friendship and food.
Children join us for the beginning of the service before heading downstairs for Sunday School. They learn about the Bible through stories, activities and discussion in a friendly social setting.
After the service, everyone is invited downstairs for a shared meal, usually pizza and vegetables.
It’s a relaxed opportunity to meet people, ask questions and spend time together.
Parents with nursery-aged children are welcome too. Parents supervise their own nursery-aged children.
We also have a separate Sunday School group for teenagers, with opportunities to explore the Bible and Swedenborg’s writings in more depth.
See Calendar below for our next Feast & Friendship Family service.

Explore the Bible in a new way
At Michael Church, the Bible is at the heart of our worship.
We also learn from the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, an eighteenth-century scientist and theologian whose writings offer a deeper spiritual understanding of the Bible.
Swedenborg helps us look beneath the surface of familiar Bible stories and explore what they might teach us about our own lives, our relationships and our relationship with the Lord.
You don’t need to agree with everything before you visit. You don’t even need to have read Swedenborg.
Come with your questions. Explore with us. See what you think.
